Leandro Trossard responds to him being linked with London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal

Speaking BBC’s Monday Night Club (h/t Mirror), Brighton and Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard discusses and responds to speculations linking him to London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Belgian international hit the headlines on Saturday after scoring a hat-trick at Anfield to earn the Seagulls a deserved point. Since the arrival of the former Brighton manager Graham Potter at Chelsea, the player has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

As per Voetbal Belgie (h/t Mirror), Arsenal were keeping a close eye on the 27-year-old in the summer to make a move in the transfer window.

While speaking about his future, Trossard did not rule out a move away from Brighton in the future. Here’s what he said (h/t Mirror):

“It’s difficult to say anything about that now, it completely depends on which club would come. If I feel good and things are good on a private level… but I also know how good I am at Brighton, also with new coach Roberto De Zerbi it looks promising.“I’m a little higher up the pitch now, which gives me more chances to score a goal. And the more chances you get, the more you can score. I think that’s the biggest difference from the last few years.”

The former Genk man has made an electric start this season, scoring five goals and assisting two in seven league games. Last season, in a total of 34 league games, he scored eight goals and assisted three.

Although he is a versatile player who can play in various positions across the forward line and was playing as a wing-back in the latter half of last season, Trossard has been playing further forward this campaign. As a result, he is getting into scoring or assisting positions more often than not.

He possesses great qualities on the ball, be it in tight spaces, shooting with accuracy or creating chances for the team. He is a willing worker off the ball as well, hence Potter trusted him to play that wing-back role late last season.

It remains to be seen whether one of Chelsea or Arsenal would make a move for him in January or next summer. The player is good enough and now experienced enough in the Premier League to be a great addition to the respective squads.

More Chelsea News:

From the Blues’ viewpoint, Potter knows the 27-year-old well having worked with him for three seasons before leaving for Chelsea. So, if the manager wants to get the player, the club should back him.
