Hull City are set to meet Chelsea officials to discuss the futures of Harvey Vale and Xavier Simons amid their lack of game time, according to Hull Live.

19-year-old Vale has made just two league appearances during his time at the MKM Stadium so far, though he will be encouraged by the fact he came on as a substitute in the Tigers’ last game against Sunderland.

Who was sacked as Hull manager in September?

Nigel Adkins Grant McCann Shota Arveladze Andy Dawson

Another player that looked set to spend the entire season with the Championship outfit was Simons – but he has appeared just once for the Tigers with his only appearance coming against Birmingham City in October.

Even then, he only came on as a substitute during the latter stages of the game and will be disappointed not to have made much more of an impact during his time under former boss Shota Arveladze and current manager Rosenior.

are set to engage in talks regarding the duo’s progress, with their futures currently looking uncertain as Rosenior looks to trim his first-team squad next month.

The Verdict:

It would probably be the best outcome for all parties if the duo returned to Chelsea next month, even though they could potentially contribute during the second half of the season.

For the Blues, they won’t want to see their youngsters’ development stifled by a lack of game time, so it would benefit them to recall the pair and send them out on fresh loan deals where they will thrive.

It may be ideal to have the duo together considering they can support each other – but playing time has to come first and the players will be frustrated with their lack of time on the pitch too.

And in terms of the Tigers, their squad is currently far too big and this is why they need to start offloading players, with Vale and Simons two players that could potentially be easier to move on than others.

Arsenal loan man Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand is another potential candidate to leave the club along with fringe players like Randell Williams who probably won’t have much of an opportunity to thrive at the MKM Stadium between now and the end of the season.
