For the second year in a row it was an all-Manchester FA Cup final as Pep Guardiola’s side looked to repeat their victory over Erik ten Hag’s men from 2023.

Here’s what happened.

United’s teenage dream

Scorers: Doku 87′; Garnacho 30′, Mainoo 39′

Despite a late charge from Manchester City, it was Manchester United who won the FA Cup final as they held on for a 2-1 victory at Wembley.

Within seconds Manchester City had a penalty shout but Haaland’s protestations were turned away after an apparently push by Lisandro Martinez.

United had their own penalty appeal on 20 minutes as Bruno Fernandes went down inside the area, but once again the referee waved play on.

It was Ten Hag’s side who broke the deadlock on half an hour as Alejandro Garnacho tapped in after a huge mix-up in the City defence.

United thought they had doubled the lead just a few minutes after by Marcus Rashford’s effort was ruled out for offside.

That second goal did come on 39 minutes as Kobbie Mainoo finished off a stunning team move.

Into the second half and it was still United who were on top as City went for broke by brining on Jeremy Doku and Julian Alvarez.

Doku was immediately in on the action as he tried to square for Foden, but the England international couldn’t get his feet right as Andre Onana pinched the ball.

On 54 minutes City had their best chance of the game so far as Haaland found space at the back post but saw his effort fire back off the crossbar.

Guardiola’s side were really piling on the pressure now as Kyle Walker’s 20 yard effort was saved acrobatically by Onana.

It was becoming an onslaught but once again City couldn’t find the back of the net as Alvarez went through but slid his effort wide of the post.

United were holding on now and Haaland thought Mainoo was doing the same inside the area on 75 minutes.

Once again though, their shouts for a penalty were ignored despite a number of complaints from Guardiola on the sideline.

That pressure paid off with three minutes of normal time to go as Doku struck from the edge of the area.

But it wasn’t enough as United won the FA Cup for the 13th time.
