Christian Eriksen may miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury sustained in Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Reading.

The Danish forward was substituted in the in the 57th minute of the match after being caught in a tough tackle from Andy Carroll, before Man Utd went on to win 3-1.

“While investigations are continuing, initial assessments indicate that Eriksen is likely to be out until late April or early May,” read an official club statement.

The news comes as a major blow to Erik ten Hag, who has made Eriksen a key player in his side this season, having provided nine assists in all competitions.

With the transfer deadline approaching at the end of the day, it’s not thought that the club are going to make any more moves to bring another player in.
