Huddersfield Town are reportedly set to sign attacker Zepiqueno Redmond on a season-long loan deal from Aston Villa.
As they seek to return to the Championship this season, it has been reported that Huddersfield Town are set to sign Aston Villa forward Zepiqueno Redmond on a season-long loan deal.
The Terriers have started their League One campaign very well with four victories and just one defeat, with that loss coming at Bloomfield Road against Steve Bruce’s Blackpool.
Huddersfield massively underperformed last season and eventually collapsed into the middle-of-the-table in the third-tier, but they have embarked upon a new era with the seemingly risky appointment of Lee Grant into his first managerial role.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper, who had been a part of Kieran McKenna’s coaching staff at Ipswich Town, has been backed heavily by owner and chairman Kevin Nagle this summer.
Town have brought in plenty of new additions and they are one of the red hot title favourites for League One, and it appears they are set to further bolster their attacking options.
According to journalist Jacob Tanswell, in a report in The Athletic, Huddersfield Town are closing in on a loan move to sign Aston Villa striker Zepiqueno Redmond.
It has been reported that the 19-year-old attacker, who can play both as a central striker but also as a winger, is moving to the Accu Stadium on a season-long loan deal.
Redmond, who spent some of his youth career at ADO Den Haag, turned professional at Feyenoord last season, making nine appearances and scoring twice for the Rotterdam-based Dutch giants.
He joined Aston Villa on a free transfer this summer, and is now seemingly set to go out and gain EFL experience, with the Villains trusting Grant and Huddersfield to further nurture his progress.
Redmond is a Netherlands youth international, and currently has four goals in nine caps for the Dutch U19 side, having also played for the U16, U17 and U18 teams.
Redmond will be joining a Huddersfield side that have had a very busy summer window, and he will be bolstering an attack that consists of Alfie May, who joined from Birmingham City earlier this summer.
Huddersfield’s first couple of additions were Ryan Ledson and Marcus Harness on free transfers before a focus on the defence and midfield with the signings of Joe Low, Sean Roughan, Josh Feeney, Murray Wallace, Jack Whatmough, Marcus McGuane and Lynden Gooch all arriving permanently.
As well as that, they have also brought in goalkeeper Owen Goodman on loan from AFC Wimbledon, with Leo Castledine joining from Chelsea too, with Redmond set to be their fourth temporary deal of the summer with Feeney also a loan deal.
What they were probably missing though was another wide attacker, and Redmond provides that particular profile - although he is probably naturally a centre-forward if you ask him where his preferred position is.
