Chelsea’s reported interest in Leicester full-back Ben Chilwell has taken a hit after Liverpool signed Olympiakos man Konstantinos Tsimikas.

Tsimikas joined the Anfield club on Monday, signing a four-year deal for a reported fee of €13m.

According to Mercury Sport, the Foxes were willing to sell Chilwell to Chelsea for around €65m, but wanted to sign a replacement first.

That man was due to be Tsimikas, who had been on Brendan Rodgers’ radar following recommendations from the scouting department.

However, Liverpool scuppered that deal after signing the 24-year-old with negotiations for Norwich defender Jamal Lewis falling through.

Leicester could now end up keeping Chilwell with Chelsea reportedly pursuing Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico.
