FLW takes a look at which fixtures could be decisive in the League One play-off race.

There is little room for error in the League One play-off race, with a number of teams in contention to achieve a top-six finish.

Wrexham and Stockport County could both yet be dragged into the battle for a play-off spot if either of them experience a poor run of results, while ninth-placed Reading will still have hope that they can gatecrash the play-off places before the end of the season, but there are currently four teams in the midst of the race for the top-six.

Just five points separate fifth-placed Huddersfield Town from Bolton Wanderers' in eighth, with Leyton Orient and Charlton Athletic occupying sixth and seventh respectively.

The race for the play-offs in League One could go down to the wire, so the final six games of the season could prove to be pivotal.

With that in mind, let's take a look at how the run-ins compare for each of the sides that are currently battling for a top-six finish.

Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield will face Mansfield Town at home, Burton Albion away and Cambridge United at home to start their run of six games to end the season.

The Terriers would like to think that they can pick up a few good results from those fixtures, but things are likely to get more difficult as the season draws nearer to its conclusion.

Michael Duff's side will travel to Stockport and Exeter City in the lead-up to a potentially decisive final-day clash against fellow play-off chasers Leyton Orient.

Leyton Orient

Richie Wellens' side are in outstanding form at the moment, which has seen them force their way into contention for the play-offs.

They will start their run-in at home against Wigan Athletic, before travelling to Crawley Town, and then returning to Brisbane Road to host Barnsley.

The O's will then face Cambridge away from home in what should be a winnable game, before two real tests to finish the season, against Wycombe Wanderers at home and then Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium.

Charlton Athletic

Charlton also have a couple of challenging fixtures in their run of six games at the end of the season.

They will kick-start their run-in against Lincoln City at The Valley, before facing Cambridge away from home, and then hosting Northampton Town the following week.

Nathan Jones' side then travel to face a Wycombe side that could be looking to seal automatic promotion, before facing Wrexham away from home, a team that could potentially still be competing for the same thing.

The Addicks host Burton on the final day of the season, and there is a real possibility that the Brewers could be fighting for League One survival that day.

Bolton Wanderers

Bolton will play against Bristol Rovers at home, Barnsley away and Wycombe at home to kick-start their final six games of the 2024/25 campaign.

Steven Schumacher's side then face back-to-back away games against Lincoln and Peterborough United, before hosting Stevenage at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on the final day.

It is difficult to say which of the four teams has the most favourable run-in, with there being a few difficult games for all of them, so it could well go down to the final day before we know which sides are going to be competing for promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.
