QPR's Charlie Kelman faces an uncertain future at the club as he returns to Loftus Road following an excellent season with Leyton Orient.
It has been a chaotic period for Queens Park Rangers since the club announced that Marti Cifuentes had been placed on gardening leave.
The Spaniard had done a good job with the R’s since arriving in English football from Hammarby, but after he was heavily linked with the West Brom job, which he ultimately didn’t get, Cifuentes was dismissed by QPR.
Finding a replacement hasn’t been a smooth process for the Londoners, and fans will no doubt be frustrated at how long it is taking.
Whilst the new season is still months away, QPR need a manager in place as there are many big decisions that need to be made over the coming weeks and months.
One of those huge calls centres on Charlie Kelman, with the forward set to return to Loftus Road after his productive loan spell at Leyton Orient.
The 23-year-old has been highly-rated for some time, but the 24/25 campaign was a real breakthrough year for the attacker, as he found the net 23 times for the O’s as they reached the play-off final.
Even though the season ended in heartbreak, as Charlton beat Richie Wellens’ side at Wembley, it has enhanced Kelman’s reputation.
As it stands, Kelman is set to return to QPR for pre-season, and he will be looking to impress the new manager.
Yet, that doesn’t tell the whole story, as FLW has been told that there is plenty of interest in Kelman, with up to eight clubs tracking him going into the summer window.
So, a big decision is looming for the R’s, as there could be an argument that his value will not be higher than it is right now.
Equally so, with QPR lacking a clinical goalscorer, there are many that feel Kelman should be given the chance to secure a spot in the first XI, and that will ultimately come down to whoever is in the dugout.
Either way, you get the feeling a decision has to be made on Kelman, as the last contract he signed at the club came in 2024, so the player would presumably want fresh terms to recognise the fact he is now a more important part of the group at QPR.
