Kicker reports that Hoffenheim are considering bringing Czech right back Vladimir Coufal to the Bundesliga. The 32-year-old has been without a club since West Ham United opted not to extend his expiring contract at the end of last season. Hoffenheim find themselves in the market for a new right back following a serious injury to Valentin Gendrey.
Coufal obviously constitutes a low-risk solution as the veteran can be obtained on a free. In terms of potential internal solutions, recently re-signed Hoffenheim defender Arthur Chaves has some experience on the right-hand-side of defense. German-Nigerian allrounder Kevin Akpoguma can also fill in at the position. Kicker notes that the club administrative team presently mulls over several options.
Coufal made 22 Premier League appearances for the Hammers last season and remains a regular on the Czech national team. The now 55-times-capped Czech international maintains an estimated market value of €5m and is one of the more valuable players at his position without a club. Over the course of five seasons in East London, Coufal made 147 English top flight appearances.
