The Cottagers face competition from the likes of Everton, Bournemouth, Leeds United and French outfit Nice.

Here we ask our FLW writers their verdict on whether the Blackburn Rovers forward would be a good addition to Marco Silva’s side…

Adam Jones

Pressure does need to be taken off Aleksandar Mitrovic to be the Cottagers’ main goalscorer and this is where someone like Brereton-Diaz could come in, not as a striker but as someone who can play on the left.

Having both on the pitch could multiply their attacking threat by a considerable amount, so he would definitely be a logical addition.

If he is needed as a centre-forward though, something that’s plausible considering their lack of depth in this area, then he could fill this role. This makes his versatility potentially vital for Marco Silva’s side.

You just wonder whether his lack of Premier League experience will count against him because in their quest to remain in the top tier for the long term, something they have failed to do in recent years, they will need experienced men.

The Chilean doesn’t fit that profile – but he’s only likely to get better so he could be a reasonably decent addition.

Marcus Ally

This would be a very good signing for the Cottagers.

It remains to be seen if Rodrigo Muniz is capable of stepping up to Premier League level, and that will raise concerns over the plan in place if Aleksander Mitrovic suffers an injury.

One true or false question about every current Blackburn Rovers player – Can you score full marks?

Blackburn signed Thomas Kaminski in 2020?

True False

Brereton-Diaz is a versatile forward and would add depth in wide areas, with the Serbian guaranteed to be the first choice number nine under Marco Silva.

With one year left on his contract at Ewood Park, Fulham could find some value in the market with the Chilean, who has started the season in very impressive fashion for Rovers.

With some injuries hurting their depth in the final third at the moment, Brereton-Diaz would be a timely addition.

Declan Harte

This would be an exciting signing for Fulham if they can pull it off, as a potential partnership with Aleksander Mitrovic could prove to be a very fruitful game plan.

Brereton Diaz is comfortable on the left flank or through the middle so could bring a versatility to Silva’s side that could be really fun to watch.

We saw in the Cottagers’ impressive opening performance against Liverpool that this is a team willing to get on the front foot, but their defending in a strong 4-4-2 shape could make the signing of Brereton Diaz a perfect addition.

Fulham looked at their most dangerous when on the break in the second half against Jurgen Klopp’s side, which could play to the Chile international’s strengths, especially as part of a potential front two out of possession.

While the London club will face stiff competition for his signing, and it will likely be an expensive deal to make, it could prove to be a key move in Fulham’s attempts to maintain their place in the Premier League.
