John Heitinga believes Mohammed Kudus is the player who can “make a difference” for Ajax.
Kudus continues to enjoy a breakthrough campaign at the Johan Cruyff ArenA as the club’s leading scorer in all competitions with 16 goals to date.
Little wonder that interim head coach Heitinga has hailed the Ghana international as the Amsterdam side’s most pivotal figure heading into the final season’s weeks.
“He is a player who can make a difference both on the ball and off the ball, but especially on the ball,” said Heitinga.
“I think he is a player that people come to the stadium for. He is a boy who entertains the crowd. He can pass and play very easily.
“But he also does things with a ball that you think: ‘how does he do that?’ He comes up with it and executes it”.
Kudus’s goals have helped Ajax stay within touching distance of retaining their Eredivisie title despite a defeat to Feyenoord giving them a six-point gap to bridge. Heitinga’s side travel to Go Ahead Eagles in their latest domestic outing on Sunday.
