Harvey Elliott departs Liverpool for Aston Villa

Midfielder Harvey Elliott has joined Aston Villa on an initial loan move from Liverpool until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old initially made his breakthrough at Fulham before joining the Reds and going on to make 148 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals.

Elliott has made only a brief league appearance for Liverpool so far this season, as a late substitute in the dramatic 3-2 win away to Newcastle United.

Although the move to Villa is an initial loan switch, the deal includes an obligation to buy based on appearances worth a reported £35 million.

Elliott could potentially make his debut for Villa on Merseyside as Unai Emery's side face a trip to face Everton after the international break.
