The agreement is expected to include an obligation to buy next summer, according to The Athletic.

Discussions between the two clubs have centred on structuring the deal in a manner that complies with UEFA’s financial regulations.

Villa are keen to strengthen their squad but must remain careful due to the spending restrictions placed on them.

They have endured a quiet transfer window compared to other Premier League clubs.

Their only arrivals have been French forward Evann Guessand and Dutch goalkeeper Marco Bizot, both of whom were brought in earlier this summer.

Defensive reinforcements have also been considered, with former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof linked with a possible switch.

Elliott would be a superb signing for Villa

Elliott would bring energy and invention to their midfield.

The young midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough summer after starring for England’s Under-21 team.

He was named Player of the Tournament at the European U21 Championship as England beat Germany in the final.

The award has raised his stock even higher, and Villa are hopeful of signing him before the transfer window closes.

Since joining Liverpool from Fulham in 2019, Elliott has made 147 appearances. During that time, he has lifted six trophies and developed into a dependable squad player.

His style is defined by sharp movement, technical ability, and an eye for space in attacking areas.

Elliott is also valued for his work ethic, pressing skills and ability to contribute defensively.

Alongside his dribbling and quick passing, he offers long-range shooting and a threat from deeper positions.

If Villa complete the move, they will gain a versatile player capable of improving their attacking play.
