The FIFA website listed Tottenham Hotspur and England forward Harry Kane at an unattractive 15.5 stone.

Kane, however, was quick to rubbish the wild claims and ensured that he is in the best shape of his life ahead of World Cup 2018 in Russia.

“The lads came over to me yesterday afternoon and said my weight had been put at 96 kilos,” Kane told reporters at England’s media day.

“I don’t know if it’s been changed but I’m definitely not 15-and-a-half-stone. I’m normally about 89 or 90 kilos. We weigh most days when we get up and that’s normally my fighting weight.”

Kane was quick to defend his fitness levels despite suffering several injuries this year for Tottenham that England fans fear may hamper his abilities in Russia.

“I feel really good and training has been of a high intensity. Obviously, everyone is fighting for places and that has pushed everyone along fitness-wise. It’s been a tough camp and that’s what we all needed. It was good to get some minutes on the weekend (against Nigeria at Wembley on Saturday) and I’m fully refreshed.”

England’s first match in Russia is against Tunisia on Monday 18th June. The Three Lions conclude their World Cup preparations against Costa Rica on Wednesday night.
