According to a report from Fichajes, it has come to light that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has personally asked the club to sign two players he believes will address critical needs in the squad, namely, Ademola Lookman and Alejandro Grimaldo.

The outlet mentions that together, the pair could arrive for a combined fee of around €45 million.

With Flick fully aware of Barcelona’s financial restrictions, his approach is more pragmatic than headline-driven.

He wants players who bring immediate value to the team without requiring the club to overspend. That’s where Lookman and Grimaldo fit in perfectly.

Hansi Flick’s choices

Lookman, currently playing for Atalanta, has had a standout season in Italy. The 27-year-old forward is quick, sharp in transition, and capable of playing on either wing.

What makes him even more appealing to Flick is his discipline in defensive work and his ability to adapt tactically.

The versatile forward has also shown a willingness to join Barcelona, which makes the potential deal easier to manage from a negotiation standpoint.

What about Grimaldo?

On the other hand, Grimaldo is seen as a smart solution for the left-back position. A former La Masia player, Grimaldo has matured during his time at Benfica and more recently with Bayer Leverkusen.

His performances in Germany have made him one of Europe’s most consistent full-backs. With his release clause reportedly affordable, a return to Camp Nou seems realistic.

Grimaldo would not only offer competition to Alejandro Balde but also provide valuable experience, especially if Barcelona decide to sell Gerard Martin, which is indeed a possibility this summer.

Instead of targeting high-cost names, who would put extra strain on the club’s finances, Barcelona see the Lookman-Grimaldo duo as a cost-effective and strategic solution.

Flick’s message is clear which is to solve real issues, not chase star power. With €45 million, Barça could fill two key gaps, giving the squad much-needed balance as they aim to bounce back under new leadership.
