Barcelona are gearing up for life without Marc-Andre ter Stegen, with the club soon expected to kickstart efforts to offload him this summer.

Ter Stegen has been identified as a liability, and the fans, in particular, do not want the German international to continue at the club.

This has become ever so relevant considering the fact that Barcelona are closing in on the capture of Espanyol’s rising goalkeeping talent, Joan Garcia.

Ter Stegen ready to go to war

However, ter Stegen, for his part, has no desire to leave Barcelona and is ready to go to war with the club, if necessary.

According to Diario SPORT, ter Stegen is deeply hurt by what he sees as a coordinated effort from within the club to push him out.

The German believes that private locker room matters have been leaked to damage his image and pressure him into leaving. He also feels betrayed by the lack of recognition for his efforts during a difficult injury recovery.

The club, meanwhile, are preparing to inform the goalkeeper that Joan Garcia will be the starter next season, with Wojciech Szczesny likely as backup.

Ter Stegen will be told he can stay, but he won’t play. Not even in the Copa del Rey.

Barça are open to negotiating a soft exit and are reportedly willing to pay a year’s worth of his salary as severance.

But the German international, under contract until 2028, has no intention of walking away quietly, especially with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.

As time passes, things could get ugly between Barcelona and ter Stegen.
