Comments on the part of new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick have piqued widespread attentions across the club’s fanbase on Thursday.

This comes after the German tactician spoke out on his potential plans for Ansu Fati.

Wide-man Ansu, of course, secured a return to Catalunya’s capital this summer, after an underwhelming stint on loan with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old, in turn, has since set about convincing new boss Flick of his readiness to contribute at Barcelona for the season ahead.

As much was understood to have been going altogether positively, until Ansu was struck down by a fresh injury blow earlier this week.

The Spanish international is now expected to be sidelined until the middle of next month.

Speaking as part of his official Blaugrana unveiling on Thursday, it therefore came as little surprise when Ansu’s situation was quickly put to the aforementioned Hansi Flick.

And, in his response, the former Bayern Munich headmaster hinted at both his readiness to afford the attacker the chance to prove himself this season, and consideration to utilising Ansu in a new role:

“Ansu plays as a left winger but he can also play as a number 9. My technical team is working with him, now he is injured and we have to wait.”
