Former Leeds United star Jon Newsome has told Norwich City that they will be under more pressure than the Whites in the second leg at Elland Road this week.

Leeds and Norwich more or less cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Championship playoff semi-final at Carrow Road on Sunday.

The tie is hanging in the balance with all to play for in the second leg at Elland Road on Thursday night.

Leeds have a bad record in the playoffs and did mess things up against Derby County at home in the semi-finals in the 2018/19 season after winning the first leg 1-0 at Pride Park.

Newsome conceded that it is straightforward now what each team need to do in the second leg but insisted that Norwich will be the team who will be under pressure at Elland Road.

The former White said on BBC Radio Leeds: “It’s a shoot-off at Elland Road on Thursday night.

“Guess what, I have been looking at the Norwich players going over to the far side to thank the Norwich supporters.

“There is a lot more pressure on them than there is on Leeds United ahead of Thursday.”

Leeds will hope to exorcise their playoff nightmare at Elland Road on Thursday night and book their place in the final at Wembley.
