Luciano Becchio has offered his reaction to the 4-0 play-off win involving two of his former sides, with the ex-Leeds United and Norwich City striker making his allegiance known for the game at Elland Road.

Three first-half goals from Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe, and Georginio Rutter all but killed the tie before half-time, with Illan Meslier saving well from Josh Sargent at the other end.

A low finish from Crysencio Summerville in the second half sealed the victory and Leeds' place at Wembley in one of the most comprehensive wins in Championship play-off history in front of a packed out Elland Road, filled to the roof with scarves.

Becchio quickly became a cult-hero during Leeds' years in the wilderness of the EFL over the last 15 years. In his first season in League One, the Argentine centre-forward notched 15 goals and an assist in 45 games.

However, he is most well known for a goal that year in what was another play-off campaign for the Whites, with a semi-final strike against Millwall at Elland Road, which remains a popular goal among supporters, despite them crashing out on aggregate.

Becchio took to his Instagram story to react to both of his former employers doing battle, stating: "🥹💙💛♫♫😊- Leeds de mi vida."

Translating to - 'Leeds of my life' in English, Becchio made clear where his allegiances lay on the night, after appearing over 200 times for the West Yorkshire outfit.

Luciano Becchio's Leeds and Norwich career

Becchio has been promoted himself, with a win over Bristol Rovers sealing the club's promotion in 2010, and his own good form continued into the second tier, where he established himself as one of the most formidable marksmen in the league - scoring 20 goals and collecting another nine assists in 44 games in all competitions, as Leeds finished seventh.

However, over the course of the next few years, the Whites' promotion-winning side would be slowly dismantled, and the likes of Bradley Johnson, Jonny Howson, and Robert Snodgrass would all switch from Leeds to Norwich, sparking somewhat of a situational and temporary rivalry between the two clubs.

Becchio remained despite Leeds tumbling down the table over the coming seasons, long after Simon Grayson's sacking. Most of his former players were successful in their move to Norfolk, but Becchio's switch was far less of a success. He left Leeds in 2013 with 87 goals and 20 assists in 221 games for the Whites.

The nature of the deal is what has some Leeds and Norwich fans scratching their heads to this day. On the last day of the 2013 January transfer window, Steve Morison signed for Leeds as part of a swap deal that involved Becchio moving to Norwich, as well as Norwich paying Leeds a further undisclosed sum.

Becchio had struck 19 times in 31 games in the first half of the season but struggled to adapt to life in the top-flight. In two Premier League seasons, he made 13 appearances and failed to score, often flattering to deceive for the Canaries. He would eventually move to Rotherham on loan to rediscover his form in 2014/15, which would all but end his career with Norwich, where Becchio made 16 appearances and failed to score a single goal.
