NJ/NY Gotham FC has another midweek game ahead of them when the Bats face Alianza Women FC in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup. They recently won their first NWSL game after a four-match winless streak and will want to continue the good times into the Champions Cup. Of course, they already won their first fixture of the tournament after beating C.F. Monterrey Femenil.
The difference this time is that Gotham has to travel to El Salvador, which is about a five-hour plane ride. The travel, similar to when the NJ/NY side must travel out west, could influence their play. Also, unlike Monterrey, they have not played Alianza. As such, the team does not know what the match will be like. At the very least, they have been successful in the past against teams outside of the United States, so that trend could very well continue.
Meanwhile, after the rotation in the last Champions Cup match, one should assume that Juan Carlos Amorós will heavily rotate the squad. It is expected that some of the younger players will start or earn significant time on the pitch. It would be nice to see more of the veterans, though. If Gotham could score multiple goals in the first half, then multiple players could be rested in the second.
Alianza is the top team in El Salvador, but truthfully, on paper, the Bats should win. That is why it is okay for fans to have high expectations for this match. Any result other than a win would be shocking. However, Gotham FC cannot enter this match thinking they will win, as that could ultimately harm them in the pursuit of all three points.

If Gotham fans cannot watch or listen to the game, then they can follow along via the NWSL website and the club’s X account.
Since Bruninha started in the Orlando Pride game, Mandy Freeman would be a great veteran to play on Tuesday. It would also be great to see Ryan Campbell get the start, for she has only played a little bit this season for Gotham FC.
