Chelsea produce so many brilliant players from their youth academy that it’s easy for some of them to go under the radar. But quality always rises to the surface, as is the case with Ike Ugbo.

Maybe it was his loans to lower league sides in England that lowered expectations of the striker, but his recent move to Cercle Brugge has shown everyone that he’s got real quality.

He scored 17 goals on loan in Belgium last season, and has attracted attention from all over Europe now. All Nigeria Soccer are today reporting that Genk, one of the top teams in the country, are pushing to sign him permanently.

They aren’t the only team interested, and earlier in the spring Goal.com mentioned Fulham and Monaco as other potential destinations.

There’s even Serie A interest, with Sampdoria and Bologna reportedly keeping tabs on the goalscorer.

One thing is for sure – he’s unlikely to be back on loan at Barnsley anytime soon.
