According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are preparing an ambitious push for Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons, but the club’s ability to sign both players depends on player departures in the coming days. The Stamford Bridge hierarchy are working on balancing the squad, which has already seen a significant clear-out this summer.

Sky Sports chief correspondent Kaveh Solhekol reports: “Chelsea will press ahead with moves to sign Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons this week if Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and Tyrique George all leave.”
Chelsea’s interest in Garnacho, one of Manchester United’s brightest prospects, signals an intent to add pace and creativity in attack. Xavi Simons, the RB Leipzig star currently attracting attention across Europe, offers technical versatility and vision in midfield. Both players fit the club’s long-term strategy of recruiting young, high-potential talent capable of making an immediate impact.

However, progress hinges on departures. Multiple clubs are currently negotiating to buy Jackson and Nkunku, while Tyrique George could leave on loan. If Chelsea only manage to move one of them, the club may sign just one player or none at all.
The report highlights Chelsea’s need to stay within financial regulations while continuing their rebuild. “Seventeen players have left Chelsea this summer, bringing in around £270m – but more need to go for Chelsea to carry on securing their top targets.”
The Blues have trimmed heavily under the current ownership, but their pursuit of elite names such as Garnacho and Simons shows a desire to combine youth with star quality. Offloading players like Nkunku and Jackson would free significant wages and create space for marquee arrivals.

Chelsea expect clarity soon. As Solhekol notes, “Chelsea are expecting developments on departures after Monday Night Football, which sees Newcastle host Liverpool, live on Sky Sports.” These next few days could shape the club’s entire transfer strategy for the remainder of the window.
If the Blues succeed, bringing Garnacho and Simons to Stamford Bridge would represent one of the most exciting double signings of the summer, giving Enzo Maresca dynamic options to elevate Chelsea’s attacking threat.
For Chelsea fans, this news sparks both excitement and uncertainty. The prospect of signing Garnacho and Simons is tantalising. Garnacho’s pace, fearlessness and ability to change games make him a dream target for any club. Simons brings flair, intelligence and adaptability in midfield, the kind of player who can dictate tempo and create in the final third.
However, the conditional nature of these moves will concern supporters. Offloading players like Nkunku and Jackson so soon after signing them raises questions about recruitment strategy. While freeing wages and generating funds is sensible, fans want to see a clear plan rather than constant churn.
If the club pulls off these deals, it signals intent to compete at the highest level and return to Champions League football. Yet if exits stall and targets slip away, Chelsea risk entering the season short of top-class options in key areas. For now, optimism outweighs doubt, but these next few days will be pivotal in defining whether Chelsea’s rebuild is bold or flawed.
