It is not difficult to guess which UK media outlet has run a Premier League flop XI.

They are always looking for something to talk about on talkSPORT radio and it’s usually bottom of the drawer stuff, in terms of football coverage.

I understand that a lot of people listen to the radio station daily to keep up to date with sporting news, and for that reason only, it’s a useful service.

Some of the worst ABU opinions you see each week come from talkSPORT presenters. If it’s not Simon Jones and Graeme Souness getting their noses in the way, they will have Gabby Agbonlahor play the role as class clown.

Agbonlahor has decided to select a Premier League flop XI, naming stars he believes have had nightmare campaigns. He includes two Manchester United players…

Agbonlahor’s Premier League flop XI: Danny Ward; Marc Cucurella, Davinson; Youri Tielemans, Fabinho, Weston Mckennie, Joao Felix; Mykhailo Mudryk, Wout Weghorst, Antony, Richarlison.

When addressing the forwards, Agbonlahor said (via The Mirror): “I’m gonna go with Mudryk, very poor season and zero goals in the Europa League. He has to be in that flop of the season. Weghorst, very very poor signing for Man United, 17 games and zero goals in the Premier League. Just not good enough, he was like a headless chicken the way he run around pressing but not an attacking threat.

“My vice captain is Antony, very very poor this season, 25 appearances and four goals. The best thing he did this season was that round flick and everyone was buzzing after that, don’t know why. And my captain is Richarlison. Probably one of the worst signings in Premier League history. 27 appearances, one goal.”

While I completely understand the Weghorst criticism, it’s a shame to see pundits failing to get their head around the fact Antony’s price tag has nothing to do with the player himself. The Brazilian has had a good season in terms of settling into the Premier League and we can all see that there’s a real talent brewing on the right wing.

To label Antony a flop is an exaggeration.
