With the summer transfer window now here, FC Barcelona is expected to make some big decisions. From both arrivals to departures, the Catalan giants will need to address various matters. While no move has been made by Barcelona thus far, it is simply a matter of time.
In terms of arrivals, the potential signing of Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia seems to be on the right track. With reputable sources having confirmed that he is now on the verge of joining the club, it seems that Barcelona has made some progress in that department.
Moreover, the club has been making a lot of moves in terms of player renewals. Raphinha’s contract has been extended already, and Lamine Yamal was the latest player for Barcelona to renew and extend his contract until 2031 as well.

One player who is still yet to extend his contract, however, is Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong. With his contract set to expire soon, a big decision regarding his future is expected soon and the player himself has now provided a positive update.
As quoted by Barça Times, the Barcelona midfielder and captain has confirmed that he would ideally like to renew his contract if things go smoothly:
“Yes, I think I will renew. I can’t confirm 100%, but if everything goes well, it will happen. The club wants it too.”
However, when asked if he was parting ways with his current representative, the Dutchman chose not to say anything:
“I can’t talk about that. I don’t want to say anything.”
Ultimately, the most important piece of information is the fact that Frenkie de Jong wants to stay with Barcelona. After a turbulent stay at the club, it is now a positive sign that both Barcelona and the player are looking towards an agreement.
With a great season now behind him, one that saw him win a domestic treble with Barcelona, De Jong definitely has a great sporting project to work with. However, the financial side of things might be something that all involved parties may need to figure out.
