With his Borussia Mönchengladbach contract expiring at the end of the campaign, France striker Marcus Thuram has offers on the table from clubs hailing from around the continent, as outlined by L’Équipe this morning.

Thuram was notably the subject of a particularly lucrative offer from Chelsea in January, which he rejected as he wanted to continue to adapt to his new central role for the Bundesliga outfit, and was also reticent about moving to a seemingly scattergun project that would give him few short-term guarantees.

The forward – who will only make his final decision at the end of the campaign – has clear criteria in mind, in that he wants to play as a central striker and compete for domestic and Champions League titles. Over the long term, this would allow him to stake his claim for a starting spot in the French national team, with the Euros just over a year away.

Overall, around ten clubs are interested, with three having already made their move. These include Atlético Madrid, where he could be a potential replacement for Álvaro Morata, as well as Inter. The Champions League finalists are offering a long-term contract, and Thuram’s links to Italy (he was born in Parma, while his father Lilian was playing there) could play a part. An unnamed German club, which has qualified for the Champions League, is also in the race to sign the striker. Manchester United, Milan, and even Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned as potential destinations. What remains clear is that signing a French international, with 16 goals this season, on a free transfer will be one of the coups of the summer.
