Filipe Luís has not travelled for Flamengo’s Brasileirão clash with São Paulo on Sunday.
The veteran left-back has trained with the team in the last couple of days after recovering from a calf injury.
However, GE has reported that the Rubro-Negro are erring on the side of caution with the 36-year-old.
Manager Renato Gaúcho has admitted that he is prioritising the upcoming Copa Libertadores final against Palmeiras on 27 November.
It is hard to argue with that approach as the Mengão’s hopes of retaining their league title are slim. They currently lie 11 points behind Atlético Mineiro, and have just one game in hand over the leaders.
Luís has been an integral part of Flamengo’s march to the Libertadores decider, starting in 10 of their 12 games in the competition to date this season.
