Flaco López rues Palmeiras draw: 'We played much better than them'

This Sunday (31), Palmeiras drew 1-1 with Corinthians at the Neo Química Arena. For most of the match, Verdão was superior, but struggled with old mistakes and couldn’t leave the Corinthians’ stadium with a win. The Palmeiras goal was scored by Vitor Roque, from the penalty spot.

After the match, Flaco López spoke to the press about the result and his call-up to the Argentina National Team.

I think we played a great game, we played much better than they did. That’s football: we conceded a goal that wasn’t in our plans. The result doesn’t reflect what happened on the field, but we have a lot ahead of us. We created many chances and, for most of the game, we had possession of the ball. We need to work on our efficiency, because we create opportunities, but if we don’t take advantage of them, we end up conceding goals.

Regarding Flaco López’s call-up to the Argentina National Team, the striker showed pride and happiness at the opportunity.

I’m very happy about the call-up, it’s my first time representing my country and I’m living a dream. Now it’s time to keep going!

What’s next?

Palmeiras will only return to the field on 09/13, against Internacional, at Allianz Parque. This is due to the FIFA break that will take place over the next few weeks, for the final rounds of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
