Transfer Deadline Day: The deals to watch

Premier League clubs have until 7pm tonight to secure transfers before the closure of the summer transfer window.

There’s expected to be plenty of movement in the final hours of the window, including the potential for record-breaking deals. Here are some of the deals to keep an eye on.

Alexander Isak

The saga of the summer is set to go down to the wire. Alexander Isak has informed Newcastle that he has no intention of representing the club again, with the Swedish striker training alone. Liverpool saw a £110m bid turned down earlier in the summer but have now reached an agreement to sign Isak in a British record deal.

The Reds are willing to spend £130m on Isak, while Newcastle have agreed to sell after the €80m capture of German giant Nick Woltemade.

Yoane Wissa

Another player currently pushing hard for an exit, Yoane Wissa wants to quit Brentford for Champions League football.

Newcastle have had multiple bids turned down for Wissa, whose future could be key to the aforementioned Isak saga. Over the weekend, Wissa released a statement imploring Brentford to let him leave.

Marc Guehi

Crystal Palace have reluctantly accepted the sale of Marc Guehi could happen before Monday’s deadline.

Guehi is out of contract next summer and Palace risk losing the England defender for free if a sale or new contract is not agreed. The 24-year-old wants to join Liverpool, who are in talks with the Eagles over a potential transfer.

Nicolas Jackson

A remarkable turn of events means Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich is on pause.

The Senegal international was on the verge of the move, until Chelsea pulled the plug after Liam Delap’s injury on Saturday lunchtime.

Jackson and his agent have remained in Germany, in the hope Chelsea can find an alternative solution to blocking his move to Munich.

Emiliano Martinez

Manchester United have reignited talks for Emi Martinez after discussions earlier this summer.

The Red Devils are determined to sign a new goalkeeper after disastrous starts to the season for Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana.

Villa will sanction Martinez’s sale for the right fee, if a replacement can be sourced.

Joe Gomez

Joe Gomez could be a casualty of Liverpool’s desire for a new centre-back. The 28-year-old has struggled for favour and fitness of late at Anfield, but is attracting interest from Crystal Palace and AC Milan.

The latter want to sign Gomez permanently, where he could link-up with fellow England internationals Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Senne Lammens

Senne Lammens is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between multiple clubs. Manchester United had appeared set to win the race, but interest from Galatasaray and Aston Villa has complicated matters.

The towering Belgian has attracted interest after a superb 2024/25 with Royal Antwerp and is available for around €25m.

Antony

Part of Manchester United’s ‘bomb squad’, Antony is yet to secure his desired move away. After a successful loan spell at Real Betis, both player and club wanted to extend his time in Spain.

So far, no agreement has been reached, despite talk that a £25m fee had been agreed over the weekend. Expect this one to run until the transfer deadline.
