Barcelona capped off a fine performance against Getafe, beating the Azulones 4-0 at home to move to the second spot, although temporarily, in the La Liga standing.

Xavi’s team was dominant right from the very beginning, enjoying the lion’s share of possession while also being threatening in almost all of their attacks.

The team from Catalonia took the lead in the 20th minute with a goal from Raphinha, and in the second half, Joao Felix, Frenkie de Jong, and Fermin Lopez added to the scoreline.

The result means Barcelona are now undefeated in their last five La Liga matches this season, with their last defeat coming against Villarreal in late January.

On that occasion, let’s have a look at some key stats from Barcelona’s dominant win over Getafe.

Gundo and Felix had a great night

Gundogan, slotted alongside De Jong and Andreas Christensen, did not score on the night, but it is safe to say that he was Barcelona’s engine throughout the game.

As such, the former Manchester City man created five key chances, which was the most by any player on the pitch and in the process, became the first player in the top-5 European leagues to reach the 100 chances created this season in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Felix had a great night too. The former Benfica forward attempted three shots on the night and each of those shots was on target so it comes as no surprise that he was on the scoresheet.

Now, he may have had his fair share of hardships this season but the goal against Getafe was his fifth league goal of the season, meaning that the Portuguese has scored four goals in his last eight matches in the league.

De Jong and Robert Lewandowski’s brilliance

It goes without saying that De Jong, who was on the scoresheet, had a fantastic night. The Dutch international played a whopping 74 passes during the game, ending with a success rate of 92%. Furthermore, the midfielder attempted four tackles and was successful in each one of them.

Overall, the midfielder won 10 duels against Getafe, which was the most in the game.

Lastly, veteran forward Lewandowski had a quiet night, but his overall stats in 2024 are still impressive. As such, he has scored nine goals in the current year and only PSG’s Kylian Mbappe has scored more (11).
