The 10 Puskás award nominations were revealed this week and there were some stunners.
But there were also some glaring omissions.
Here are five goals that we thought deserved to be nominated …
John McGinn has risen to prominence since joining Aston Villa and it’s easy to see why with strikes like this.
Immaculate technique, ball cannons in off the crossbar and a quality celebration to boot.
Now for a solo effort. And what a solo effort it was.
Zaniolo, without a team-mate in sight, sat down three Sassuolo and dinked the keeper for added embarrassment. The audacity.
Can you marry a first touch?
From the instant control, to the spin, to the perfect volley – goals don’t get much better than this.
This finish is absolutely outrageous.
The technique is perfect, so is the trajectory of the ball and you’ve got a goalkeeper in no man’s land for extra points.
Plus he did this in the same game!
Can anybody shift through the gears like Eden Hazard?
In about three seconds, he burst through the West Ham defence, evading every challenge and finishing beautifully. Outrageous.
