Italian minnows Pisa have returned to Serie A for the first time since 1991, and they are already enjoying themselves.
Despite being dealt a tough hand during a matchday one clash against neutral fan favourite Atalanta, the 2024/25 Serie B runner-up has not backed down against the face of overwhelming odds before going on to open the scoring in the first half with a bit of help.
An own goal from Swedish centre-back Isak Hien in the 26th minute gifted the club its first goal in the Italian top flight since a goal from Diego Simeone 24 years ago.
Though La Dea battled back to level the scoreline at one-all five minutes after the restart through Gianluca Scamacca, it has been a far better reintroduction to the top of the Italian pyramid than many fans would have hoped for.
