Timo Werner had turned down several moves from clubs in MLS, Serie A, and Ligue 1, according to Bild.
The 57-time German international looks set to stay put with RB Leipzig for another season, or at least until this winter.
Last month, it looked as if a move to MLS with parent club New York Red Bulls was on the cards. However, the 29-year-old forward never moved forward with the deal.
Perhaps one of the biggest reasons is Werner’s current contract with the Saxons.
Werner currently earns around €10m a year with Leipzig, a fee that he simply isn’t going to get anywhere else.
Several teams in Italy’s Serie A had contacted Werner, but were met with the same decision as New York.
Most recently, Lyon of Ligue 1 made contact but to no avail.
Werner’s current contract runs out in 2026, and it’s very unlikely that Leipzig will want to keep the partnership going.
For now, the club is stuck with Werner on a very high salary.
