Fiorentina are not giving up on prime target Albert Gudmundsson of Genoa, hoping the arrival of Vitinha from Olympique Marseille can change their minds.

The biggest problem that the team has had ever since the arrival of coach Vincenzo Italiano is the failure to turn all their possession and chances into goals.

They are seeking reinforcements on the January transfer market and have already practically agreed a dry loan until the end of the season with Roma for Andrea Belotti.

It doesn’t stop there, as they are also pushing for Genoa wide forward Gudmundsson, who has been a sensation this season with 11 goals and three assists in 22 games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

The 26-year-old Iceland international has been slapped with a €30m asking price and that could potentially rise in the summer when clubs like Juventus, Inter and West Ham United get involved in the race.

Sportitalia claim Fiorentina are trying to anticipate the competition by getting Gudmundsson now.

They hope the arrival of Vitinha from Olympique Marseille, who is expected to fly in tonight to undergo a medical tomorrow for a loan with option to buy for €25m, will convince Genoa to loosen their grip.

RMC Sport claim that Vitinha said goodbye to his Marseille teammates this afternoon and emptied out his locker.
