Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is currently leading the race to replace Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian is all but set to leave Napoli in the summer and La Gazzetta dello Sport state today that while there are multiple names on the shortlist, Gimenez’s profile has risen to the top and he is currently the leading candidate to replace the Nigerian in the summer.

Napoli do not want to replace Osimhen internally and they are willing to spend the money they earn from Osimhen’s sale to bring in a replacement. Gimenez costs around €50 million and that sum is seen as something that the Partenopei could shell out fairly easily. Napoli would present a career leap for the Mexican.

Then there’s Jonathan David, whose price is low because his contract runs out in the summer of 2025. Relations with Lille are excellent and that could help in the move. The idea of signing Joshua Zirkzee is now in the background, largely because there are many suitors and Napoli do not want to take part in an auction.
