Santiago Gimenez is one of names on the radar of Arsenal’s recruitment team as the Gunners look to sign a striker this summer.

The Mexico international is expected to leave Feyenoord in the summer transfer window after a prolific period in the Eredivisie, with Gimenez having scored 47 goals in 83 appearances across his two seasons in Rotterdam.

Feyenoord have reluctantly accepted that it will be difficult to keep the 23-year-old at De Kuip amid mounting interest from clubs in Europe’s top five leagues.

Record have revealed that Arsenal have tracked the progress of Gimenez, as the north London consider number nines. Mikel Arteta has made the addition of a centre-forward his focus for the summer, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have struggled for form and fitness this season.

The Gunners continue to be linked with various options, including Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Ivan Toney, and Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, though Gimenez is also on the club’s striker shortlist.

Arsenal will face competition should the Premier League leaders pursue Gimenez, however, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid also interested in a deal.

Mexican journalist Alejandro Gomez told Record that Gimenez feels ready for a new challenge, with initial talks with the trio of clubs.

“He feels that his cycle at Feyenoord is over and he is ready to start activating contact with three very important institutions. The relationship with each of them is different, although there is not one more ahead than the other, there are different levels of interest. They are not speculations and the Mexican will have to make a decision between Arsenal, Juventus and Atlético de Madrid.”
