Feyenoord have offered their head coach Arne Slot a new contract as they hope to keep him at the club, according to the Daily Mail.

The 44-year-old led Feyenoord to their 16th Eredivisie title and only their second in the 21st century this weekend.

Last season, Slot led his team to the Europa Conference League final.

Also, they reached the quarter-final of the Europa League this season. Both times, Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma knocked them out.

Following his achievements, European clubs are noticing Slot’s work. Tottenham Hotspur have been monitoring him since dismissing Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini.

Spurs are looking for a new permanent head coach after a disappointing campaign that will likely see them miss out on Champions League football.

Interim manager Ryan Mason has not done much to improve Tottenham’s season, but he is a candidate for the job.

With Julian Nagelsmann out of the running to be the Spurs’ new boss, Slot is now one of the top contenders.

However, the Eredivisie champions will not let their manager go without a fight. They are offering him a pay rise to extend his deal.

Feyenoord have offered him a £2.5 million per year salary. It is one of the highest offerings in the club’s history.

Nevertheless, Feyenoord know that Tottenham can offer him a higher salary and a bigger transfer budget.

But they hope the opportunity to take this exciting Feyenoord team to the UEFA Champions League could convince him to stay.

Tottenham missed out on Dutch manager Erik ten Hag when looking for a Jose Mourinho replacement. They would hate to make the same mistake with Slot.

Just like Ten Hag, Slot comes with high recommendations. Although, Spurs must pay a £6 million compensation fee to take him.

Spurs have other managerial targets like Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim, and Xabi Alonso.

Also, Bayer Leverkusen administrator Tim Steidten, AS Roma’s Tiago Pinto, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Markus Krosche, and Johannes Spors are options for the club’s sporting director role.
