FC Volendam have announced that they have agreed to part ways with head coach Regillio Simons. The former Ajax youth coach took over as the head coach in December 2023 and was in charge for 17 matches, averaging 0.47 points per game. Simons had taken over from Matthias Kohler, who had stepped up from assistant manager to become the head coach after Wim Jonk moved into a technical role. The former Basel and AS Trencin head coach was in charge for 15 games and averaged 0.53 points per game.

Volendam only returned to the top flight of Dutch football in 2022, having finished second in the second tier. During their first season back under Wim Jonk they won 10 of their matches and finished in 14th place. This season they only managed four wins and conceded 86 goals in the process.

The last time they had been in the Eredivisie before their recent promotion was for once year during the 2008/2009 season. Volendam fans will be hoping that they do not have to wait for over a decade to win promotion again.
