Brandon Khela is wanted by League One clubs after his loan spell with the Bantams
League One duo Blackpool and Lincoln City are keen on Birmingham City midfielder Brandon Khela, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.
Blues swept aside the rest of the competition in League One last season, earning a divisional record of 111 points as Chris Davies' squad proved to be too powerful for the rest of the third tier.
City will look to strengthen this summer for their Championship return, but it may mean that fringe players are set to depart - one of those being Khela.
FLW has been told that Birmingham academy graduate Khela is being eyed up for a St. Andrew's exit this summer, with two of the clubs the Midlands outfit left behind in League One - Blackpool and Lincoln City - keen on a permanent transfer move for the 20-year-old midfielder.
Blackpool have already been busy in the early stages of the summer transfer window, with manager Steve Bruce opting to bring in the experienced centre-back pairing of Stockport County's Fraser Horsfall and Sheffield Wednesday's Michael Ihiekwe, with attention now turning to other areas of the pitch.
Lincoln and Michael Skubala however are yet to get off the mark for their incoming deals, although they have lost two midfielders this summer, with Alistair Smith and Sam Clucas both being released.
Khela is being eyed up by both the Tangerines and the Imps as he returns to Birmingham following a stint on loan in League Two with Bradford City, who he joined early on in the January transfer window.
The Coventry-born playmaker had to bide his time under Graham Alexander, but he started 11 of the Bantams' last 14 fourth tier matches as they earned promotion into League One, notching two assists during his time in West Yorkshire in the process.
Blackpool and Lincoln both want Khela on a permanent basis at their respective stadiums, but it may cost them to get the youngster away from Birmingham due to his contract situation.
Khela, who has been with Blues since 2014, signed a professional contract for the first time three years ago, and in December 2023, he extended his deal until the summer of 2027.
