The Red Dragons are believed to be leading the race to sign Lewis Koumas.
Wrexham are leading Birmingham City in the race to sign Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas this summer.
The Red Dragons are working tirelessly to bolster the squad as they embark on their first Championship season in 43 years.
They will be hopeful of possessing another depth and quality to take on one of the hardest divisions in Europe, with the 46-game bonanza a test of both stamina and consistency.
Financially backed by Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the club have already brought in a number of high-profile players, with frontman Kieffer Moore the latest to link up at the Racecourse Ground to help provide enough ammunition at the top end of the pitch.
And now it appears Wrexham are not done there when it comes to wanting an array of options in the forward area, with the Welsh outfit credited with interest in Koumas.
The latest update by TEAMtalk suggests that Wrexham are in the driving seat to secure the 19-year-old’s signature after he tasted Championship action last season with Stoke City.
As per a report by TEAMtalk, Wrexham are considering an ambitious swoop for talented Liverpool teenager Lewis Koumas.
Koumas is believed to be free to head back out on loan, with a long queue of second-tier teams interested in making a move.
Talks are believed to be ongoing between Wrexham and Liverpool to negotiate a deal, with Phil Parkinson’s men reportedly in the box seat to take him ahead of Norwich City and Sheffield United.
Birmingham City have also been touted with making a move for the Chester-born man, but Wrexham are currently making the biggest play to get him to sign on the dotted line before the 1st September deadline.
Liverpool believe Koumas would benefit from another loan move away to the Championship after the youngster produced six goals and three assists from 49 games in all competitions at the Bet365 Stadium.
It is believed that any agreement would strictly be for a loan move, with Liverpool chiefs unwilling to sanction a permanent exit given the player has so much room to develop and improve at the age of 19.
Wrexham’s team is starting to take shape just days to go until the beginning of the Championship season, with the club making statement signings in the forms of Kieffer Moore, Conor Coady and Lewis O’Brien.
There’s a real aim to add experience to the squad, but they’re now also looking to blend it with youthful and hungry players, while Koumas benefits the squad even further after getting to grips with the demands of the Championship last season.
Despite it being a mixed campaign for the 19-year-old, a tally of six goals at this level is still a good return for someone so young, and you wouldn’t back against him to better that total in a Wrexham team that’s on the rise and has the potential to do well again.
The Red Dragons have the making of an exciting squad that can disrupt the apple cart in the Championship, with Koumas’ electric pace, neat dribbling ability and eagerness to get shots on goal sure to give the club a potent forward line that can trouble many opposition defences.
