Inter kick off their Serie A season in one week.

The Nerazzurri travel to Liguria to face Genoa as they open up their title defense.

Inter will head into that match with a couple of fitness concerns. For example, defender Stefan de Vrij will be on the sidelines due to a muscle strain.

Then, it is unlikely that midfielder Piotr Zielinski will be fit for the opener.

On the other hand, Hakan Calhanoglu should be fit to start against Genoa, despite the fact that the Turkish international is dealing with a minor muscle problem and currently training individually.

And then there is wingback Tajon Buchanan. The Canadian will be out for the first few months of the season after the bitter blow of a leg break that he suffered in training during the Copa America.

Taremi & Arnautovic To Be Fit For Inter Serie A Opener Vs Genoa

Two of the players to pick up muscle injuries during preseason for Inter have been strikers.

Iranian international Taremi had started the preseason period in blazing fashion.

Taremi had been part of Inter’s training camp right from the start. And he got on the scoresheet in all of the friendly matches.

This led to the sense that the 32-year-old was on track to start against Genoa.

However, Taremi picked up a muscle problem.

Meanwhile, former West Ham United and Bologna veteran Arnautovic returned to training a couple of weeks ago, following participation at the Euros with Austria.

However, the 35-year-old picked up a thigh strain following a friendly match against Pisa.

Neither of Taremi nor Arnautovic will be fit enough to start against Genoa.

That causes a bit of a selection headache for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. And it also creates more pressure on the starting attacking duo of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

However, there is some good news. According to Tuttosport, both Taremi and Arnautovic will be able to start on the bench.
