Former Italian international Cristiano Lucarelli feels that Napoli can rival Inter Milan and AC Milan for the Serie A title this season.

The former Torino and Livorno striker spoke to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInterNews. He gave his thoughts on the Italian top flight title race this campaign.

After six matches in Serie A, Napoli are top of the table.

The Partenopei look to have gone a long way towards recovering from last season’s disastrous title defense with Antonio Conte as coach.

Napoli began the season with a disastrous result, a 3-0 loss against Hellas Verona.

However, ever since then the Campanian side have been the most relentlessly consistent team in Serie A.

There has been a draw against Juventus in a very cagey match. And then otherwise, Napoli have won the matches that they’ve been expected to win.

Then, the Bianconeri sit one points behind Napoli in the table.

And Inter, AC Milan, and Torino are all on eleven points just behind.

Early signs point to a fairly competitive title race.

Last season, Inter won the Serie A title by a wide margin. The previous campaign, the Partenopei had done so.

But this time around it looks like the Nerazzurri and the Partenopei as well as a couple other teams are going to fight for the title for much of the season.

Lucarelli: “Napoli Can Rival Inter & AC Milan For The Serie A Title”

Former Napoli striker Lucarelli gave his thoughts on the Partenopei’s early form.

The former striker predicted that “Napoli have everything they need to fight for it right until the end.”

“Not playing in Europe is a big advantage for them,” he continued.

“Conte is a coach who is at his best in that situation,” Lucarelli said of the Napoli boss.

Conte won the Premier League title with Chelsea when the Blues were out of Europe. He also got Inter into the form to win the Serie A title after Champions League elimination.

Lucarelli predicted of Napoli that “They can fight for the Scudetto with Inter. And also with Milan.”
