Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella could be fit enough for the bench in Monday’s Serie A match against Como.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. Tomorrow the 27-year-old’s condition will be evaluated.
One thing that’s clear is that Barella will not start on Monday.
The former Cagliari midfielder has picked up a thigh injury.
This injury saw him miss Inter’s Coppa Italia round of sixteen match against Udinese on Thursday.
And Barella certainly won’t be able to get right back in the starting eleven for Inter’s next match. They host newly-promoted Lombard rivals Como in Serie A on Monday evening.
The feeling is that a return is not too far on the horizon for Barella, though.
Tuttosport note that the Italian international’s condition was already quite a bit better yesterday.
Therefore, today and tomorrow, the Inter coaching staff will evaluate Barella.
If there is a sense that the 27-year-old is ready, he could be in the squad on Monday.
However, Barella will hardly take any risks rushing back to action.
Meanwhile, there is certainly no doubt that Barella will be ready for Inter’s last match of 2024, away to his old team Cagliari.
