Everton and Newcastle United are in contact with Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes.
Matheus is interesting both Premier League clubs with the summer market now open.
O Jogo says informal contact has been fielded by Matheus' agents from representatives of both English clubs.
Everton have been following Matheus since the days of Marco Silva being in charge and despite being managerless, are keen to firm up their interest. Indeed, they've been following the 22 year-old since he was making waves at Ericeirense as a youth teamer.
With Nuno expected to be confirmed Everton manager, it is set to strengthen their determination to reach a deal with Sporting for the goalscoring midfielder.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are also in the frame amid reports manager Steve Bruce has been handed a bumper £50m summer transfer budget by club owner Mike Ashley as reward for his work last season.
Matheus has a deal with Sporting to 2025. Last season, he made 39 appearances, scoring three goals and producing three assists.
