Everton Have Set Their Sights On This Ligue 1 Forward: What Will He Bring To Merseyside? | OneFootball

In a recent report, L’Equipe stated that Everton have set their sights on Olympique Marseille forward Iliman Ndiaye this month. It has been revealed that the Toffees are showing interest in securing the services of the Senegalese striker this January.

Ndiaye’s Decent Campaign In Ligue 1

Ndiaye has caught the eye at times at the French club this season but has struggled to be consistent in front of the opponent’s goal. The 23-year-old has registered one goal and three assists in 23 appearances for Marseille during this campagin across multiple competitions.

The Senegalese sensation has given a good account of himself in the opposition half as he is averaging 1.1 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 81.8% of his attempted passes in the French first division (stats via whoscored).

Ndiaye’s current deal at Marseille will run out in the summer of 2028 which would make it difficult for the Toffees to arrange a cut-price move for him this winter.

What Will Ndiaye Bring To Everton?

Ndiaye can create a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. He can create some inviting chances for others around him on the offensive end of the field. The Senegalese talent is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so.

Ndiaye knows English football well from his time at Sheffield United. However, he is far from a consistent goal-scorer in the final third. Still, we can expect Ndiaye to bring more firepower to Everton‘s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park in the coming seasons.

At 23, Ndiaye has got a promising future ahead of him but would need time to adapt to the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Sean Dyche manage to snap him up this January.
