Etihad Stadium to host City’s FA Youth Cup final against Leeds | OneFootball

The Etihad Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for City’s FA Youth Cup final against Leeds United.

Our iconic home stadium will host the high-profile occasion on Friday 10 May, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 (UK).

Tickets for the final will be available from 10:00 (UK) on Tuesday 16 April.

The showpiece event promises to be the highlight of the season pitting Ben Wilkinson’s exciting young side against a talented Leeds outfit.

It’s City’s first appearance in the final since 2020 when we memorably beat Chelsea 3-2 at St George’s Park in a game played behind closed doors due to COVID-19 restrictions.

City will step out at the Etihad seeking what would be a fourth FA Youth Cup triumph overall following previous successes in 1986 and 2008 alongside that 2020 triumph.

Leeds meanwhile will be chasing what would be the Yorkshire club’s third FA Youth Cup triumph following victory in 1993 and 1997.

It has been a phenomenal road to the final for Wilkinson’s exciting young team.

Our FA Youth Cup journey began with a third-round trip to Vicarage Road where City beat Watford 2-0 courtesy of goals from Matty Warhurst and Jaden Heskey.

Another huge away trip beckoned when we travelled to holders West Ham in January in the fourth round.

An extra-time penalty from Jacob Wright and subsequent Justin Oboavwoduo strike saw us defeat the Hammers 2-0.

City Under-18s’ first game at the Joie Stadium in the 2023/24 campaign saw us welcome Reading to Manchester.

Quickfire goals from Jaden Heskey and Emilio Lawrence proved key in a hard-fought fifth round encounter with City securing a 2-1 triumph.

Onto the quarter-finals and it was another home clash for City. Tottenham Hotspur proved to be tricky opponents after their resolute defending and quick counters saw them take the lead in the 62nd minute.

City were resilient, however, and first Luca Fletcher drew us level from close range on 82 minutes before a sublime free-kick from Wright on the brink of full-time sent City through to the final four.

That last four meting saw us play host to Bristol City who were yet to concede a goal in the competition.

For 81 minutes, the Joie Stadium played host to a tense encounter before substitute Ashton Muir’s dramatic late strike secured our ticket to the final.

Leeds meanwhile have overcome Norwich, Brighton, Sheffield United, Liverpool and Millwall en route to the final.

Before then, City’s Under-18s have another final to compete in.

Wilkinson’s youngsters travel to Leigh Sports Village on Tuesday 23 April for a 19:30 (UK) kick-off.
