Erik ten Hag had nothing but praise for Sébastien Haller after the striker’s brace saw Ajax past PEC Zwolle on Saturday.
Haller scored in either half at MAC³PARK stadium as the Amsterdam giants kept pace with early-season Eredivisie leaders PSV.
“He always scores,” Ajax boss ten Hag told ESPN (via Voetbal International).
“Since January, when he came to us (from West Ham), his statistics have been phenomenal.”
Haller’s double brings his tally to four goals in the opening four games of the league season.
While ten Hag was delighted with the Ivory Coast international’s contribution, he was less enamoured with the overall performance of his side.
“It was too hectic, we suffered too much and unnecessary loss of the ball,” he said.
“It’s not that PEC got chance after chance, but they were menacing. We should have made it 0-2 earlier.”
Ajax will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Lisbon to face Sporting CP in their opening Champions eague group stage game.
