England goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck says that the team are feeling confident ahead of their UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 quarter-final against Spain.

The Lionesses have won all three games, scoring 14 goals and conceding zero so far, Sarina Wiegman’s side have been one of the standout teams of the tournament.

Wednesday brings their toughest test so far with Spain providing the opposition at the Amex Stadium in Brighton. England will need to be at their absolute best to qualify for the semi-finals but Roebuck says that the team are feeling confident.

“We watched their (Spain’s) game against Denmark,” Roebuck said when speaking on Lionesses Live. “I thought that Denmark played really well but just unfortunately, couldn’t get the goal.

“I think that whoever we had got, we’re confident, we’re doing what we need to do and going about our business. Inevitably, in a tournament like this you’re going to face tough competition, especially in the knockout rounds.”

England have already played at Brighton in this summer’s EUROs. The crowd were electric as the Lionesses defeated Norway 8-0. Roebuck went on to say that the fans are playing a big part in the tournament.

She said “Everybody’s having a good time, and also the results have gone our way. There have been loads of goals, so that obviously helps pull the crowd up. I think that their (the crowd’s) contribution has been massive so it doesn’t go unnoticed, that’s for sure.”
