It was the perfect afternoon for Elena Sadiku's Celtic side at Paradise on Sunday afternoon as the Ghirls put in a five-star performance to defeat Hearts 5-0.

Goals from Lucy Ashworth-Clifford and Tash Flint, alongside a Murphy Agnew hat-trick saw the Hoops retain top spot in the SWPL, heading into the final five league games of the campaign.

Speaking to Celtic TV in the immediate aftermath of the game, Elena Sadiku was pleased to see the control her side took of the game from start to finish and produce a dominant display at Paradise.

The Celtic Head Coach said: “It was a great performance. I feel like we were in control, and dominated the game from the start to the end.

“Obviously coming off the back of a hard week with three games in seven days, and we put in a performance like this, it makes you happy and proud of the team.”

‘It’s something that we are trying to talk within the team is that we want to dominate games and be in control.’

“I feel like the togetherness in the team, it’s very nice to see when we play.

"So it’s something that I really enjoy to see, but you can also see that around training and outside of training. They're enjoying being together and creating those memories.”

Sunday afternoon’s match provided the opportunity for a number of players to have their first taste of playing at Celtic Park.

That was also the case for Elena Sadiku, who took to the touchline at Paradise for the first time.

Scoring five goals, keeping a clean sheet and sealing all three points, it proved to be a great afternoon for the Celtic Head Coach, who will experience the Celtic Park dugout once again versus Hibernian and the end of the next month (May 19).

The experience is something she won’t forget, but she was also proud to watch her side put in a performance on a special day for many.

“It’s easy to stand here as a coach when we perform like that, but it’s something that we work together,” she said.

“It’s the whole staff, putting effort in analysing everything. Then obviously with our training, and the girls' response to everything, it’s a team effort for the performance that we put in.

‘It was amazing. You work here at Celtic Park every day. My office is at Paradise, so it’s something that I really enjoy, but I also think the girls deserve it.’

“If we perform like this, the girls deserve the best and that is something that I am very happy to see.”

Back the Ghirls at Hampden Park

Following their triumph at Paradise, Elena Sadiku's side are quickly back in action with another huge game this coming Saturday (April 27).

Making the short trip to Hampden Park, the Ghirls take on Glasgow rivals Rangers in the semi-final of the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup.
