With Celtic sitting two points clear at the top of the table with only five games remaining in the SWPL campaign, Chloe Craig is relishing the chance to bounce back after Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi-final defeat.

The Ghirls had been on an impressive 11-game unbeaten run coming in to Saturday’s match at Hampden, and despite the negative result, the Celts will be desperate to rediscover their good form as they return to league duty this midweek.

In what looks destined to be a defining week in the SWPL season, with Elena Sadiku’s side facing Glasgow City and Rangers in the coming days, Chloe Craig has spoken about the opportunity that she and her team-mates have to recover from the weekend’s disappointment.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday night's clash with Glasgow City at the Excelsior Stadium, the Celtic defender said: “Nobody wants to lose a game, of course, especially a cup game but like we’ve said, the best part about it is that we’ve got a game within a few days, so we’ll put that to bed and make it right on Wednesday.

'That’s the good thing about this week. The games come thick and fast so it’s probably the best thing for us, but we’re eager to go out there and put things right.'

“The most important part is that we’re together, we stand together and win, lose or draw we’re going to be a team, we’ll go out there on Wednesday to try and get the three points."

Craig, having spent well over a decade at the club, is also well aware of just how important the backing of the Celtic supporters is, especially at such a pivotal time of the season, and she is hopeful that her team can give the support even more to cheer about as the campaign reaches its conclusion.

“They’re always our 12th man. Everywhere we go they’re always there, so we hope we can go out there and do it for them as well."
