Celtic FC B stretched their unbeaten run to 16 games as they picked up another three points on their travels with a 2-0 win against University of Stirling.

A first-half double from Lewis Dobbie was enough to secure victory for the young Hoops who make it two wins from two to round off a productive week.

Having returned to action midweek following the most recent international break, the Hoops were looking to continue their momentum from the 3-0 win over Dumbernauld Colts at the Excelsior Stadium.

The Bhoys kicked proceedings off at the Forthbank Stadium in a positive manner, going on the front foot from the first whistle.

In the early stages, Bruno Davidson was causing havoc for the home side, using his pace to burst down the right-hand side.

It took until just before the 20th minute for the Celts to take the lead as Lewis Dobbie grabbed his first of the afternoon from the spot.

Following some fantastic build-up play, a well-weighted pass from Daniel Cummings found his strike partner, who looked to get a shot off on goal, but before he could, Dobbie was bundled down by the goalkeeper, with the referee left with no choice but to point to the spot.

Stepping up to take the resulting spot-kick, Dobbie made no mistake, sending the Stirling stopper the wrong way.

After taking an early lead, the Hoops continued to push forward for the remainder of the half, with Joe Morrison between the sticks having very little to do in the opening 45 minutes.

On two separate occasions, Ben Quinn was denied from close range, seeing an effort cleared off the line and another saved by the goalkeeper.

Heading towards the half-time whistle, the young Celtic side were able to double their advantage as Dobbie grabbed his second of the afternoon.

After being fouled inside the penalty area for a second occasion, the forward took the spot-kick once more, but saw his initial effort saved.

However, he was quick to react to the loose ball, forcing it home to hand the Celts a two-goal lead right on the stroke of half-time.

The blustery conditions proved difficult for both sides going into the second half, with neither team creating too many chances to shout home about.

That being said, the Celts did manage to create a few decent openings, with some good defending from the home side denying Celtic a third.

The first of those chances fell the way of Bruno Davidson after a lovely interchange between Quinn and Bonnar on the edge, but the winger just couldn’t force it home.

Second-half substitute Ronan Ferns then came close to scoring his first goal for the B Team, but was denied by a fantastic stop.

It was another impressive display from the young Celtic side on Sunday afternoon, maintaining their strong run of form in 2024.
